AUGUST 2024 NEWS, VIEWS & PERSPECTIVES

Old Prime Numbers Discarded.
This is an important announcement that everyone needs to be aware of.  Some very critical things happen behind closed doors that few people are aware of.  This is one of them.  While most of us were focusing on other things, the critical decision was made to DO AWAY WITH OLD PRIME NUMBERS.  To explain in detail, the number '1' was discarded and replaced with the number that is one above it ('2').  So '2' is now '1.'  But to prevent confusion, a new '2' was added so that the familiar sequence of numbers would stay the same.  To continue further with how the process occurred, '3' was discarded and replaced with the number that is one above it ('4').  So '4' is now '3.'  But to prevent confusion, a new '4' was added so that the familiar sequence of numbers would stay the same.  To continue further with how the process occurred, '5' was discarded and replaced with the number that is one above it ('6').  So '6' is now '5.'  But to prevent confusion, a new '6' was added so that the familiar sequence of numbers would stay the same.  The process continued forward until all the Old Prime Numbers were replaced.  We will miss the ORIGINAL Prime Numbers because, well . . . just because they were the originals.  Some of you may be asking whatever became of all the old numbers.  If you will glance for a moment at our previous sentences you will find the answer to your question.  The old numbers were DISCARDED.  What's the matter with you?  Can't you read?  If you would pay closer attention we wouldn't have to answer ridiculous questions like this.

New babysue Office Suites on Jupiter.
As many readers will remember, earlier this year we set up additional Office Suites on The Sun.  That is working so well for us that we began considering adding more Office Suites on the planet Jupiter.  We are pleased to report that the process is complete.  Now for one week each month we will be living and working on Jupiter.  This is possible due to the discovery of a new section of lush green pasture land just underneath the tenth gas layer.  Clear plexiglass supports were installed to stabilize the floors and then the new climate-controlled offices were built.  So many people said it was impossible for people to visit Jupiter so we're very pleased to prove all of them completely wrong.  Jupiter is such a fun blast that we're considering adding even more Office Suites in other parts of the solar system.  The next place we're considering setting up camp is Europa

Secret Rare Thing Discovered.
Geologists recently dug down 200 miles into the ice at the North Pole and discovered a very rare and special SECRET THING.  At first they thought that it might have been placed there as a distraction.  But as it turns out, the thing is completely genuine and real.  Thousands of tests have been performed on the Secret Thing to verify its authenticity so that there will be no doubts.  It is now being displayed at several specific museums throughout the world, but tickets to see the Thing are expensive.  The latest information specifies that the average ticket price is around $153,650.  But those who have seen it say that the incredible beauty more than justifies the price.  It is estimated that the Secret Thing is more than 10 million years old and was created by the first living molecule.  The intricate colors and design suggest that the very early molecules were much more intelligent than originally thought.

No Parking Anytime Anywhere.
This month the parking feature has been permanently disabled for all vehicles worldwide which makes it impossible for anyone to park anything anywhere at any time.  The decision was made in order to make the world more livable and sustainable.  Drivers should be aware of this change because once they start driving anything it will be impossible to stop it and park.  The change affects all cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, jets, skateboards, trains, boats, etc.  In other words, if it moves it can no longer be parked...ever.  So be aware of the fact that if you do opt to drive a vehicle it will keep going forever.  The only way you can escape is to jump from the vehicle while it is moving.  This change has already resulted in millions of vehicles roaming the earth with no drivers.  There is no cause for alarm however because there is never any cause for alarm about anything.  Some now consider their vehicles to be disposable one-time accessories that they discard once they reach their destination.  If that's what it takes to make things sustain the way they should sustain then so be it.

Pocket Nuclear Reactors Coming Soon.
For decades scientists have been working on coming up with alternative sources of energy to accommodate the growing need for power on Earth while at the same time avoiding doing anything that will advance global warming.  The exciting really good news is that there's some super exciting really really good news about a new affordable energy source that will solve the problem for everyone forever.  Top-level technicians have created a new Pocket Nuclear Reactor that will soon be a staple in everyone's lives.  The reactor is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand and costs less than ten dollars.  But despite it's small size it creates enough energy to power the average person's life for approximately fifty years.  It won't be long before we won't need electrical power plants or gasoline or anything like that because everything will be powered by these small personal devices.  And, here's the best part . . . the energy is almost FREE.  Everyone will be able to power everything for about twenty cents a year.  Amazing.  The Pocket Nuclear Reactor is the single most important development ever in the world of energy.  The reactors will be available soon in the coming months or weeks.

Discovering Ernie Kovacs.
It's incredible how many people in the twenty-first century discount black and white entertainment.  Some of our all-time favorite cartoons and shows are in black and white and the lack of color doesn't bother us in the least.  Because his career took place so long ago we never really saw or appreciated the work of comedian/actor Ernie Kovacs.  The name was familiar, but that was about it.  We recently started delving into this curious man's world and . . . WOW.  How could we have missed out on this stuff for so many years?  Hey, better late than never.  So now we presently find ourselves immersed in Ernie's wild and incredibly inventive off-the-wall humor.  At a point in time when television started out very samey and dull, Kovacs was probably the first shining light that showed the possibilities of visual humor and television in general.  Many of his skits were apparently unscripted which made for some truly crazy and spontaneous moments.  We're not sure who came first or who may have influenced who . . . was it the guys in The Goon Show or was it Ernie Kovacs?  It doesn't really matter because both were great and neither seemed to be copying the other.  But they were both treading in the same experimental field of comedy in its very early embryonic stages.  Although we only recently became aware of Kovacs, he has quickly become one of our all-time favorites.  It's no wonder so many name him as a major influence.  Silly, unpredictable and insanely clever, this creative genius paved the way for thousands of future entertainers.  Mr. Kovacs was breaking the rules before the rules had even been established.  His skits continue to be used as blueprints for modern comedy because they were so far ahead of their time.

Entertainment & Music News.
* One of the best music releases we've heard this year is a four-song EP from The Mediocre Friends entitled So, This Is It?  These guys have recorded four songs that really hit the target, sometimes sounding like a slightly more metallic version of Fountains of Wayne or even Teenage Fanclub at times.  Four killer tracks: "Adore," "This Old House," "Be Alright" and "That'll Be Me."  Cool lyrics and great soaring melodies.  The band is comprised of Bill Cederroth (bass), Chris Dicksheid (drums), Mike Eckhart (lead and rhythm guitar, keys) and Gay Elvis (vocals, rhythm guitar).  You can find them on Bandcamp, the obvious and best place to find quality music in 2024.  *  New Neil Innes News.  Discerning music fans were severely saddened in 2019 when Neil Innes passed away.  One of the most intelligent, funny and gifted singer/songwriters of all time, Innes unfortunately never received the recognition he so obviously deserved while he was alive.  That may be changing this year as someone is working on a new website that will feature Neil's cool music and videos.  Although most only know the man as a member of The Bonzo Dog Band and the musician sidekick in Monty Python's Flying Circus, his life story involves so much more and it has received very little attention except by Mr. Innes' devoted cult following.  This man has always been a favorite here in babysueland so we're hoping the new website makes the world more aware of Neil's stellar contributions to the world of music and comedy.  The URL is NeilInnes.com and it is due to debut sometime this year (2024).  *  Fans of credible underground pop take note.  Starflyer 59 has a new album coming out this year entitled Lust For Gold.  Released on the Velvet Blue Music label, the album will once again solidify Jeff Martin's standing as one of the most gifted musical artists of the past few decades.  *  Fans of credible live music should note that Sarah McQuaid is performing fifty-five shows in Great Britain and the U.S.A. this year.  This enchanting lady's music always hits the targets so fans are sure to be treated to an exceptional entertainment experience.  *  Perpetual babysue favorites The Telescopes have a new album out this year entitled Halo Moon.  Featuring eight exceptional heady tracks, this one is being made available to the world via the fine folks at Tapete Records.  *  Classic modern pop isn't dead, it just went underground in the twenty-first century.  The folks at Think Like A Key (TLAK) have just released remastered expanded versions of two Ex Norwegian classics:  Sketch and House Music.  Both are available on vinyl and CD but note that quantities are extremely limited.  Easily two of the most exceptional underground pop albums released this century without a doubt.  Speaking of TLAK, the label has also begun an online music magazine called The Key that is turning listeners onto credible real artists rather than the second-rate commercial superstars that so many clueless listeners support.  *  The folks at Semi-Permanent Records have released a new album from Saint Black entitled Brown Velvet.  This band writes and records true underground oddities that are sometimes reminiscent of Dinosaur Jr and even Lou Reed at times.  Ten puzzling tracks with a unique sound.  *  Paul J. Botelho and Jeff Kaiser have released a new album entitled Dome.  Featuring voice and trumpet, the album presents two lengthy curious tracks that are bound to appeal to Kaiser's fans.  On the Jeff Kaiser Music label, of course, of course.  *  Prolific and always entertaining singer/songwriter Jeremy Morris has released two more albums on his Jam Recordings label.  The first is Mystery of the Seven Stars which features seven lengthy tracks that have been crafted to perfection.  The second is an album entitled New Adventures from the band The Lemon Drops, which is the duo of Jeremy and Stefan Johansson.  Fifteen cool intelligent tracks with cool melodies and exacting arrangements.  *  The folks in Elevation have a new album out entitled Are You Looking For Me?  The album features recordings by Faith Zimmer, Christopher H. Harris, Dominick DiOrio, Riginal S. Wright, Lori C. Hicks, Erik Meyer, Lee R. Kesselman and Kevin B. James.  To quote directly from the press release, "Elevation stands proudly as Delaware's sole fully professional vocal ensemble."  *  Strikingly creative recording artist Amy Rigby has a new album out entitled Hang In There With Me.  Released by the fine folks at Germany's Tapete label (everything they release is exceptional), the album features eleven intelligent and credible compositions including "Hell-Oh Sixty," "Bangs," "Bad In A Good Way" and "Last Night's Rainbow."  *  We recently became aware of a genuinely cool recording artist in North Hollywood, California named Feef Mooney.  She has a new EP out entitled Special Friend One, and it's a keeper.  Six songs that are remarkably hummable and accessible.  We can't help but love the sound of nifty cuts like "I Don't Want To Fit In," "Blind Date" and "Grey Glider."  The EP also features the talents of supporting artists Chris Price, Fernando Perdomo and Kassidy Heal.  Truly neat sounding stuff.  *  The folks at Lexington, Kentucky's Transcendental Revolution label have released a new vinyl LP by the band Funeral At Sea.  Entitled Curse of the Commonwealth, the album presents smart melodic tracks that are reminiscent of some of the smarter independent musical artists that we normally associate with the early 1990s when there were some truly creative waves crashing through the United States.  We were fortunate to receive the translucent yellow vinyl which was pressed in a limited edition of only one hundred copies.  The band is the solo project created by Jeremiah Duncan (of Small Steps).  This fellow writes super smart songs with exceptional lyrics.  Recommended.  *  The Mavericks have a new album out this year entitled Moon & Stars.  Featuring the incredible vocals of Raul Malo, the band continues writing and recording music that will surely stand the rest of time.  The band is touring the U.S.A. this year in support of the new album.  *
