Other News and Perspectives
* Here is the place where the only things that matter are the things that you read about here. Everything out there is never ever worthy of your attention. So place your consciousness where it is appreciated most. Stay in the comfort zone of warm privacy and constant positive strokes. * There is a waft of wiffle in the trickle point air. No one seems to notice and no one seems to care. In events of despair, air is everywhere. But in the shift of the fiddle, the wiffle remains in the middle. * People are taking notice of things they were not aware of. It is happening in stores and it is happening in closets. There is no way of finding out what they are noticing, but chances are they haven't yet noticed. * [continued below]
* Remember when cute was around? It was here and it was there. It was far yonder and it was so near. But in 2026 cute is hardly here at all. Where has cute gone? Has it gone underground? Has cute gotten a new job? Has cute moved to a new city? Has cute had its hair done differently? There are traces of places where cute once was, but there are no new places where cute has taken up residence. Cute is missed in a very big way by most people who have been interviewed. They say they have gone onto things that are more mature and thoughtful. But meanwhile, cute sits in the backseat moping and hoping that one day the mighty star will rise once again. Concentrate on cute. Think hard about cute. If we all think and concentrate hard enough, cute will return. * [continued below]
* Far beyond and fairly close, things that are necessary are no longer available in a single dose. The hands on clocks move but there is barely any time left. All time has run out. The cause and effect have gone into hiding. Turn up the treble and sound out the alarm. There is no place for advantages when the chilling chooses raw stuff. And the raw stuff is just waiting...waiting in the wings until it gets up and throws a tantrum so big that everyone will notice. [continued below]
* Everyone thinks the same. Everyone has the same ideas about everything now. We all agree on what is right and what is wrong and what is good and what is bad. We no longer have time to bicker over trivial things because our time has run out. Now that the engine is heading straight down to the solid ground all we can think about is how nice everything seems for the last few moments we have. Isn't it nice when everyone thinks the same for the last thirty seconds? That way we can all try to forget the centuries upon centuries we spent fighting over petty disagreements. Even though it is only for a few seconds, everyone thinks the same now. And that is a very bad thing. [continued below]
* Have you ever wished that you could not fly? Everyone dreams of flying. But how many dream of being unable to fly? Such is the case with some members of a group that cannot be identified at the present time. They had hopes that they would one day stop flying. But in the meantime they kept flying and flying and flying around. Some called them flies while others called them a circuit cult. They had wires in their minds and primitives in their Belgian realm. But the bonkers effect was already inside them and could not be registered. How long will it be before the system is no longer a system? One can only hope because one doesn't know what else to do but hope. Unfortunately hope gets no one anywhere and this has been the case for thousands of light years. But as light years pass and light years go, over and over and over we go. [continued below]
* Do you ever think about what is continued below? There are all kinds of things continued below. But there are also things above that are no longer continued at all. You can left and right. You can up and down. But you cannot read anything once it has gone into town. But it has just into town for a few minutes to pick up a few necessities. That's all. It will be right back before anything is continued below. Some may be asking, "Why continue below when I don't have to?" Well the answer is... * [continued below]
* Jerry Lewis is getting back together in 2027. Fans are already lining up to see how the pieces fall into place. * Taking their cues from classic artists from the past, the guys in The Loved Ones have come up with an instantly pleasing platter. Appropriately titled Latest Hits!, the group's new album presents twelve instantly catchy upbeat guitar pop compositions with undeniable style. The band began way back in 1990 but made the decision to split in 1995. A couple of decades have passed but now they're back. And you'd never even know so many years have passed based upon these new fresh sounding songs. The band is comprised of Xan McCurdy (Cake), Michael Therieau, John Kent and Bart Davenport. Kickass tracks include "Don't Turn Your Back," "Down That Road," "Vagabond" and "Head Full of Blues." Released on the Sofa Burn label. Recommended for fans of guitar pop bands from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. * Underground recording artist(s) Saint Black have a new album out entitled Senses Alive. This self-released CD-R features trippy, slightly spooky experimental compositions that don't follow the traditional verse/chorus/verse/chorus formula. Actually, they don't seem to really follow any specific formula because the sounds slide and veer all over the place, which makes us think much of this is totally improvised on the spot. But it's not all sound collage stuff, there are also some familiar song elements that creep into the mix. Nine interesting compositions with a compelling overall vibe. Groovy tracks include "Becoming The Firm," Knife Lake," "Leako" and "Rise Below It." * [continued below]
* Have we mentioned the name Roy Harper lately? * There's a grey area in the world of music where artists make music that is easily accessible and yet doesn't have that overly slick perfect sound that makes so much commercial music unlistenable in the twenty-first century. Travis McKeveny is one of the artists operating in that grey area. Combining elements of folk, country and Americana together to create his own unique sound, McKeveny has already found an appreciative audience. Paradiddle Records has just released his latest collection of melody-driven songs. Entitled From Dublin to Duluth, the album has a nice thick slick sound without ever sounding processed. The first single to be released from the album is "Get Into Trouble" which features guest vocals from Pete Mancini and Cassandra House. Nice well-crafted music with a conscience. * We'd like to say a few words about Bobby Sherman now, but we will wait until later to do that. * Rachael Sage & The Sequins are back with another colorful album courtesy of the fine folks at MPress Records. Entitled Under My Canopy, the CD presents more of the thoughtful melodic pop tunes Rachael's fans have come to expect. If you like singer/songwriter stuff, you will likely find a lot to appreciate here. Fifteen smooth cuts with perfectly executed arrangements. Smart compositions include "Just Enough," "Colorized World" and "Everyday." * A bunch of very important things happened recently but we can't remember what any of them are. * Neighborhood Records has just released a super cool CD box set entitled Neighbourhood Songs by Melanie. Released in a hardback book format, this 4 CD set features 100 rare and unreleased tracks from the recording icon who unfortunately passed away in 2024. This is apparently her friends' way of honoring her, by releasing a whole slew of music never heard by fans until now. Groovy stuff, and the packaging is excellent. * [continued below]
* In a world where almost everything is processed to pieces, things that are simple and direct tend to stand out from the crowd. Such is the case with the latest album by Ben In A House entitled Here It Comes. Benjamin Partyka is the one man band here, and he has come up with an album that doesn't sound like anything else we've heard lately. Beginning with the beautiful instrumental "He Likes Chess," Benjamin then proceeds to offer more than a dozen simple home-recorded jewels. If we had to provide a reference point, we could suggest that these tracks bear some basic similarities to the acoustic demos Lou Reed recorded for his Transformer album. You won't hear layers upon layers of instruments . . . or vocals so perfectly practiced that they no longer sound human. The tracks on Here It Comes sound very much like what they are -- personal songs recorded by a real human being in real time. The song titles and lyrics are smart and inventive and the melodies have some surprising twists and turns. Some favorites include "A Mouse Is Cute," "Cat Toy," "I'll Never Wear Headphones Again" and "Kansas." Refreshingly sincere and created for all the right reasons. * David Bowie fans will be interested in a new CD release that features some of his earliest tracks. Entitled The Shel Talmy Recordings, the release features twenty-two cuts from a very young almost-unrecognizable Bowie, then recording as Davie Jones & The Lower Third and The Mannish Boys. Includes ten previously unreleased recordings and a very cool booklet containing all kinds of interesting and curious facts. *
